Traffic Generating tips
Success in the adult industry is based largely
and undoubtedly on one single factor, Traffic. Without it you don't make
money through memberships to your pay site, commission from an AVS, or
advertisers, and all the work you've put in to your design and content
won't mean a thing if no one ever sees it. So with reports coming in
constantly about the record numbers of people getting internet access,
how do you get this potential revenue to your door?
Search Engines
When concentrating on bringing traffic to
your adult website, perhaps the first and most obvious avenue is the
Search Engines. The explosion of adult sites on the web has made this
undertaking exceedingly more difficult though as the various search
engines struggle to keep up; in an attempt to deal with this
overabundance they've instituted various rules and qualifications that
change quite frequently and can be a mess to keep up with. There are now
programs both commercial and in shareware that will submit your page to
various search engines for you; obviously the commercial programs and
companies who handle your promotions for a fee offer much more than the
shareware submission programs can but depending on your budget this may
not be a feasible option for you. If you are going to submit your site
on your own or supplement the submission tools you've chosen by manually
adding your site to the other/remaining search engines, we have an
exhaustive list on this website to help you.
| TIP:
When you are preparing for the search engines to list you, don't
lie in your meta tags and descriptions, if a surfer arrives at
your site looking for "Teens" and all you have is
"Grannies", the SE's will likely find you out and drop
your rating; besides, assuming you do get surfers this way you
aren't going to get their business but you will dissuade them
from trusting this industry. Be honest! |
Other Sites as a Source for Traffic
Another avenue that should not be missed
is other adult websites, ones that share your niche are best since you
know that the customers who are seeing your banner are already
interested in the type of content you have to offer. Continuing along
this line of thought, you should start with websites that are getting a
high ranking in the search engines for similar content, and sites you've
heard are doing very well; find their email address on their sites and
approach them for a banner exchange so you can benefit from their
traffic. Being as these webmasters are probably busy, you should take
the first step by linking to their site; when that's done, email them
and ask them for a reciprocal link. Make it easy for them and send the
necessary HTML in your email to them, if it's easy and quick for them to
add you they'll be more likely to comply.
